Drew Barrymore got candid with her Instagram followers on Tuesday and uploaded a video showing a rare glimpse of her messy bedroom “before” and “after” she cleaned it.
The Wedding Singer actress, who recently celebrated her 48th birthday earlier this month, could be seen filming herself using her phone’s camera as she took a quick tour of her spacious room cluttered with many objects.
The talk show host, who also revealed she dyes her hair at home, started the nearly minute-long reel with an automated voiceover that read, “Show me your room before and after having cleaned it”, followed by “I ‘go first!’
She began by walking through the entrance to the spacious room and past a tower of boxes that were placed next to a brown chair and matching ottoman while glancing exasperatedly at the camera.
The mother-of-two was dressed casually to film the clip and donned a plain blue t-shirt while her hair was parted down the middle, allowing her locks to fall naturally past her shoulders.
While sporting little to no makeup, Drew then pointed the camera at an ornate desk that was also topped with various objects in a disorganized fashion.
Natural sunlight could be seen through a window directly across from the desk which sat on a colorful rug in the far corner of the room.
The Ever After actress then turned the camera to her bed and showed various boxes and objects strewn on the floor.
A storage cabinet was visible against a wall on one side of the bedroom, the doors wide open.
The star slowly made her way to her bed and revealed to her 16.7 million followers that the mess continued.
Stacks of papers, books and maybe scripts were stacked next to the large, comfortable unmade bed which also had a few items on the duvet. Above the stack near the bed, an ET booklet could be seen.
As she filmed the reel, music blared loudly on a speaker in the background.
The Golden Globe winner then took her fans into the bathroom, where plenty of amenities and toiletries could be seen on the sink. A smaller circular mirror sat near the edge while the medicine cabinet was open and also filled to the brim.
Also on the white-tiled sink was a box of tissues, a folded magazine, a red newspaper, and a cream-colored bag and white towel.
Drew once again sent a humorous, tired look towards the camera, intimidated by the task of having to clean all the space.
The video was then cut to a later time after the star tidied up the bedroom and bathroom. She looked great on her face while sporting a new ensemble consisting of a warm gray crew neck sweater.
As the ET actress let out a sigh of relief, she opened a door to reveal a clean and organized closet with all her clothes neatly hung on a rack.
The beauty then slowly approached to reveal a clean desk that had no clutter left and various items piled on top. Her laptop could be seen along with a notebook and some other important office supplies.
Barrymore gave a chef’s kiss and strolled across the carpeted floor that no longer had piles of items on it and showed his bed was also clutter-free and made.
The last stop on the tour was the bathroom, and the tiled sink was clearly visible with the cabinets closed and organized inside.
To wrap up the clip, the talk show host cracked a small smile and gave an excited little dance to celebrate her accomplishment.
The actress has been applauded by her fans for her “authenticity” and for simply being the “real deal”.
One social media user wrote in the comments section, “When you realize celebrities (some of them) are regular people too. I love that her bathroom looks like a normal single person bathroom and not the size of an entire apartment.
Another wrote: “Thanks for that. Sometimes I feel like every room in the house is a mess and I’ll never catch up,” and one added, “Love you for always being authentically you!! no facades here, you guys are making it a lot easier for us to be human.
Comedian Nikki Glaser also sent out a shoutout and typed, “Thank you for always being the real deal.”
Drew, who recently became the face of Garnier Nutrisse, celebrated another celebration recently and celebrated her 48th birthday earlier this month on February 22.
As she nears the age of 50, the single mother of two daughters, Olive, 10, and Frankie, 8, admitted to People late last year in December that “it was the best decade of my life, without a doubt”.
“It wasn’t just the most awesome, it was the one where I feel like I’ve slain more dragons than I’ve ever had in my entire life.”
On positivity and happiness, she added, “As a kid and even in my 20s and 30s, happiness felt like this very giddy, excited optimism.” It’s a choice. You have to work for it. It is difficult to arrive on some days. And so when you’ve mastered it, it feels like a much better win.
