Megyn Kelly says Prince Harry and Meghan Markle “just won’t get over” a recent episode of “South Park” which poked fun at the exiled royal family.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s decision to cross the pond in a desperate bid for privacy was ruthlessly ridiculed in the series’ latest episode, titled ‘The Worldwide Privacy Tour’.
“I think that’s a statement that they’ve jumped the shark, they’re not liked and his hopes of running for president, hopes reported, are almost dashed,” Kelly, 52, said in “The Megyn Kelly Show” posted on Friday.
“That’s not happening. When ‘South Park’ turns against you, there is no recovery.
Kelly was referring to widespread speculation that the Duchess of Sussex was considering a career in politics, adding fuel to the fire of unconfirmed reports that she had set her sights on the White House.
While the Sussexes have yet to publicly react to the animated episode, it has apparently proven to be a popular hit among viewers.
The episode, which begins with a disclaimer that all characters – even if based on real people – are fictional, centers on a couple who move to a fictional town for privacy.
And even though the episode doesn’t explicitly name the couple, viewers noticed that the couple looked exactly like the royal family and even wore the same outfits as them.
Elsewhere in the episode, the pair promote the prince’s new book titled ‘Waaagh’ – which bears an uncanny resemblance to Prince Harry’s recently released memoir, ‘Spare’.
“We just want to be normal people – all this attention is so hard,” the prince says in the episode after admitting he “hates” reporters.
Later, the couple boards a flashy private jet and embarks on their “Worldwide Privacy Tour.”
As for Markle’s supposed political candidacy, unconfirmed reports suggesting the mother-of-two has forged ties with top Democrats have been circulating for a long time. Despite endless whispers, there is no solid evidence that she is interested in running for office.
In March 2021, investigative journalist Tom Bower, who is writing an upcoming unauthorized biography of Markle, said he thought it was “likely” the former ‘Suits’ star would try his hand at politics. .
“The prospect of Meghan running for president is possible and I would say likely,” Bower told Closer magazine, as DailyMail.com reported at the time. “I really believe that’s where she sees herself going.”
Ahead of the 2020 election between President Donald Trump and Vice President Joe Biden, conservatives have accused Prince Harry and Markle of intervening by encouraging Americans to register to vote.
The famous couple also warned Americans against spreading misinformation and condemned hate speech in a video for Time 100.
In response to the remarks, Trump said he was “not a fan” of Markle and joked that he wished “Harry lots of luck because he’s going to need it.”
