Gigi Hadid has admitted to being a ‘baby nepo’ – saying she doesn’t consider herself the ‘prettiest person in the world’.

The model is considered one of the most successful runway stars in the world, along with her sister Bella Hadid, but even she admits to having some much-needed help getting to the top.

“Technically, I’m a nepotistic baby,” Hadid told The Times of London. “My parents came from very little.”

“I always recognized that I came from a privilege,” she added.

The model, real name Jelena Hadid, 27, is the daughter of Dutch model Yolanda Hadid, who also starred in ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ from 2012 to 2016.

Meanwhile, her father is Palestinian-born property developer and tycoon Mohamed Hadid.

“My parents said to me, ‘Just because you have successful parents doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go into work being as kind and hardworking as possible,'” Gigi added.

The term “nepo baby” refers to the children of celebrities who have had a head start in the entertainment industry thanks to their famous parents, and served as the inspiration for the viral “Year of the Nepo Baby” cover of the New York magazine.

Gigi and Bella are currently considered two of the most sought after runway models.

Gigi added that she doesn’t think she’s the “prettiest person in the world” and could “probably do” with Botox.

On her journey to global stardom, Gigi landed her first modeling gig when she was just two years old.

She then worked with Victoria’s Secret, before making her runway debut at New York Fashion Week in 2014.

Gigi’s mother Yolanda has had a successful modeling career in the past.

Since then, she has walked for almost every fashion house and been on the cover of every fashion magazine.

Hadid’s comments about nepotism come three months after Vulture published an article naming all the people in Hollywood who have benefited from being children of famous parents.

Among those named were Lottie Moss, half-sister of Kate Moss; O’Shea Jackson Jr., the son of rapper Ice Cube; and Lily Allen, daughter of actor Keith Allen and film producer Alison Owen.

While most celebrities have opted to stay mum on the subject, actress Jamie Lee Curtis recently joked about being a product of nepotism during her monologue at the 2023 SAG Awards.

“I got my SAG card when I was 19, when I signed a seven-year contract with Universal Studios and starred in an ABC television series called ‘Operation Petticoat,’ which was based on the movie my dad , Tony Curtis – nepo baby – starred in,” Curtis said last month.

“The current conversation about nepo babies is simply designed to try to diminish, denigrate and hurt. For the record, I sailed 44 years with the benefits that my associated and thoughtful notoriety brought me.

“I’m not pretending there aren’t any, trying to tell me that I have no worth on my own,” she concluded.
