Kim Kardashian and her famous siblings may not be on the guest list for the upcoming 2023 Met Gala.
Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, who oversees the guest list for the annual fashion celebration, has apparently decided to throw a party without the Kardashian-Jenners, a source told Page Six.
The 2022 event marked the first time all of the sisters — Kim, Kourtney, Khloé, Kendall and Kylie — were invited, along with their mother Kris Jenner.
Vogue did not initially comment on whether Kim and her sisters would be walking the red carpet this year.
A source close to the family claimed it was untrue that the reality stars weren’t invited to the Met Gala.
Despite claims that the Kardashian-Jenners weren’t invited, sources said it’s unclear if any of them would choose to attend even with an invitation.
Last year marked the first time Kim’s sisters Kourtney and Khloé attended the ceremony, but Khloé said she had other opportunities to walk the red carpet.
In November last year, the Revenge Body star claimed on her family’s Hulu reality show, The Kardashians, that she had been guests “in the past” but “just chose not to go.”
“I’m not a fan of red carpets. I think I made it very clear,” she said.
At the time, she said it was Met Gala veteran Kim who convinced her to join the rest of the family on the shindig A-list.
Wintour’s alleged new selectivity comes after the event has been criticized in recent years for inviting a lower tier of celebrities, including some influencers.
Kim first attended the Met Gala in 2013 with then-husband Kanye West, and she later admitted it was a miserable experience for her.
She arrived heavily pregnant in a jubilant floral dress, but went wild on social media for her look, which many users compared to an old-fashioned couch model.
However, she was undeterred and has returned every year since, as her public profile has only grown.
Kim bragged about fashion legend Thierry Mugler’s ‘first design in 20 years’ when she arrived at the 2019 ceremony in a shimmering flesh-coloured dress that hugged her curves and featured dangling crystals that looked like to raindrops.
After skipping 2020 when the event was canceled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, she returned in 2021 with her most edgy look yet: an all-black Balenciaga bodysuit with a long train and a mask. black that covered his whole head.
The bondage-style look was a far cry from the more traditional glamor she showed at last year’s ceremony when she wore the dress Marilyn Monroe wore when she sang Happy Birthday to President John F. Kennedy.
However, the move outraged some conservationists who believed the dress would be damaged if she wore it, although there have been full claims since whether it had been damaged in any way.
