Oscars 2023
March 12, 2023 | 10:29 p.m.
The Oscars mark the grand finale of awards season, so it’s no surprise that celebrities (and their stylists) go all out on the red carpet every year.
And at the 2023 ceremony, held at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, stars showed up in all kinds of show-stopping dresses and sharp suits, and a handful of looks stole our hearts.
White dresses emerged as one of the dominant trends of the evening, with Michelle Yeoh, Mindy Kaling and Michelle Williams among the many people who opted for a look in heavenly hues. Romantic pinks and purples also popped up on Angela Bassett, Stephanie Hsu and Hong Chau.
Below, our best-dressed picks from this year’s Oscars, from Rihanna’s underwired leather baby look to Malala Yousafzai’s mesmerizing sequin number.
michelle yeo
The ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ actress looked absolutely angelic in a white Dior Haute Couture tailoring with waves of fluttering feathers. A sprinkling of pear-cut Moussaieff diamonds – including a necklace designed as a hair ornament – makes for the perfect finishing touch.
Hong Chau
The ‘The Whale’ and ‘The Menu’ star looked lovely in a pink satin Prada dress with a Mandarin collar – a sweet nod to her roots – and a wide, embellished train covered in fringe and black sequins.
michelle williams
The “Fabelmans” nominee looked more ethereal than ever in a Chanel Haute Couture gown with a sheer cape adorned with silver and white sequins and beads. A diamond-encrusted Tiffany & Co. choker, tennis bracelet and ring further upped the shine factor without overshadowing her shimmering couture.
Angela Bassette
Dressed in a dress befitting her royal looks, the ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ actress shone bright in the mermaid-skirted Moschino ultraviolet. Bulgari’s diamond Serpenti necklace, custom-dyed Sarah Flint heels and a matching purple Judith Leiber bag completed her look.
Malala Yousafzai
The Nobel Peace Prize winner and executive producer of “Stranger at the Gate” sparkled in a silver sequined Ralph Lauren gown accessorized with diamonds from Fred Leighton and Santi Jewels.
Rihanna
Oh baby! Ahead of her performance of “Lift Me Up,” the pregnant Best Original Song nominee flaunted her baby bump in a custom chocolate Alaïa leather dress layered over a matching bodysuit.
Stephanie Hsu
Nominated for “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” the Broadway veteran lit up the Oscars carpet in her hot pink Valentino Haute Couture strapless gown accessorized with Cartier sapphires and diamonds.
Cara Delevingne
Days after speaking to Vogue about her sobriety journey and time in rehab, the supermodel looked happy, healthy and beaming positively in her Old Hollywood-worthy Elie Saab Haute Couture gown, topped with an oversized bow and embellished with Bulgari jewelry.
Mindy Kaling
The multi-tasker looked stunning (and very svelte) in a white-hot Vera Wang dress with a sheer paneled corseted bodice and edgy detached sleeves.
Lady Gaga
The Best Original Song nominee landed this drop-waisted sheer Versace gown just days after debuting Gigi Hadid at the fashion house’s runway show in Los Angeles. Talk about fresh off the track!
