Pedro Pascal is the latest celebrity guest to take the spicy wing challenge and appear on the Hot Ones Youtube series.
While eating chicken wings drizzled with spicy hot sauces, the 47-year-old actor talked about working on some of the world’s most-watched HBO series – The Last Of Us and Game Of Thrones.
In the latest episode hosted by Sean Evans, the Narcos alum completed the Hot Ones ten wing challenge while being interviewed about his hit series and movies.
On the show, The Last Of Us star reflected on what it’s like to play with an animatronic Baby Yoda robot on The Mandalorian.
He also revealed that he got into a fight over a pillow with Nicholas Cage while filming The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent together.
On the show, he opened up about his infamously brutal scene where his character had his eyes gouged out in season four of Game Of Thrones.
“Maybe in this interview too I can beg you to gouge out my eyes and crumble my skull in case it gets really bad,” Pascal joked.
He recalled that the bloody scene was actually so “relaxing” that he fell asleep during the take.
Pascal played the role of Oberyn Martell who is mobbed by Gregor ‘The Mountain’ Clegane – who was played by Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson.
“That was the best part of the day,” he told Evans.
“I was sound asleep because it was so hot and (the fake blood) was so cold to the touch and you had to be really, really still,” he said.
“It was the most relaxing and also knowing that we had come to the end of this kind of four day fight that we were shooting there,” Pascal continued. “It was very cathartic and I fell into the deepest sleep I have ever experienced.”
The Kingsman: The Golden Circle actor has explored his take on playing multi-faceted characters with a tough yet warm duality in his successful career.
“On your last project The Last Of Us, you played Joel Miller – a character who loves the show a lot has this austere outer shell but underneath there’s a warmth,” Evans said.
He then asked, “As an actor, how do you think about balancing the noble traits that make a character like Joel heroic versus the weaker ones that make him human?”
“I think there’s a funny thing about sort of a very restrained exterior that’s typical of these kinds of male archetypes,” he replied.
Pascal continued, “Don’t show your feelings. People will see you’re weak. Survival is key. Don’t let anyone in.” You know?’
“Developing a human connection is not – at least in his mind – the key to survival, only to discover that he cannot do without it at any cost,” he added.
A few wings later, the Santiago-born star was gargling milk and begging for blood before admitting he didn’t like drinking the dairy drink.
“Can someone come in here and let me bite into their flesh?”
He then asked, ‘Can someone bring me a cup of blood?’
Pascal also discussed acting with an inanimate costar in the form of the animatronic robot Baby Yoda in the Star Wars spin-off series The Mandalorian.
He explained that it takes two people to operate Baby Yoda in the scenes to make it as lively as possible.
He later also confirmed that the entire cast of The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent were gifted pillows with a life-size image of Nicholas Cage’s face.
He recalled that one day during filming, one of the pillows was placed in the scene.
“The only time I disagreed with him,” he said, noting that the scene in the film was an improvisation.
He also revealed his unpopular view that Mexican food in New York – not only doesn’t compare to Los Angeles – but doesn’t exist.
“Come for me,” he joked after making the statement.
He also opened up about his affinity for the late singer Prince’s hit song Purple Rain, which he said he wanted to see played at his funeral.
