Speaking candidly during a conversation with Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke at the launch of the 2023 South by Southwest (SXSW) film festival on Friday, the Quantico alum, 40, has opened up about the various things he’s been told “that are hard to hear” throughout his career, including criticism about his body.

“In my job, the pressure is so intense that you can’t really show the cracks in your armor,” she told the panel, People reported. “Someone told me yesterday that I wasn’t sample size. … I was hurt and I talked about it with my family, and I cried to my husband and my team, and i felt really bad that i’m not the sample size and that’s a problem apparently and most of us aren’t and the sample size is about 2.”

The actress, who has a one-year-old daughter with husband Nick Jonas, went on to say she was singled out as a woman.

“And those pressures – it’s inexplicable. I can’t explain what it feels like to be sitting on your couch and feeling the world coming your way because people have forgotten you’re human,” he said. she continued, adding that sometimes people can come at her with “the meanest, nastiest things, not just about me, about my child, about my family members.”

The star also opened up about how her loved ones help her deal with such criticism.

“I think what you need to do is surround yourself with people who love you, and surround yourself with people who care about you, not what you can bring to the table and not what you can do for me,” she said. . “People who want to see you smile and get rich. It doesn’t have to be a room full of people, I can count them on my hands.”

THE Citadel The star has shared in the past how she “always felt under pressure” to be “perfect” and “skinny”, noting that it took time for her to feel comfortable with the natural texture of the skin and hair. But ultimately, the former Miss World says she believes she found a strong sense of self-worth in building confidence that “has nothing to do with my body.” Still, it’s a challenge to ignore criticism.

“Well, I won’t lie and say it doesn’t affect me,” Chopra Jonas previously told Yahoo Life. “My body changed as I got older, like everyone’s body, and I also had to adjust mentally with like, OK, this is what it looks like now, this is what I look like now, I’m fine, and take care of my body today and not my body of 10 or 20 years ago.”

She went on to say that she finds it “very crucial” that she builds self-esteem by contributing to the world around her, focusing on “what you bring to the table outside of what you resemble”.

“I always think about how I contribute? What is my goal ? Am I doing the tasks assigned to me for the day well? I try to be myopic about feeling good about other things, even on days when I don’t feel my best about my body and work for whatever makes me happy at that time.” , she shared.
