
SATURDAY UPDATE, Refresh for latest…: Disney/Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania flew into eight other overseas markets on Friday, taking the international box office to yesterday for $52.6 million. Globally, that’s just kissing $100 million to $98.6 million. The full global weekend is predicted to be around $225M+, lower than where we’ve seen it go into launch, especially overseas. This is partly due to the sci-fi elements not playing everywhere, as we noted, this could be an issue in our preview. Europe is playing at the high end and Latin America is on track, although there is softness in Asia Pacific outside of Australia.
In total, the threequel is now buzzing in 51 offshore markets and, on a like-for-like basis, is so far 30% ahead of the original. The ant Man (+63% excluding China) and 24% below Ant-Man and the Wasp (4% more excluding China). The first two installments were played during the summer.
The figures above do not include today in China where the Peyton Reed-directed pic once again led the game; through Saturday, it has grossed around $14 million. That now points to a full weekend in the low $20 million there. In the same way, KoreaSaturday receipts are not represented in the figures above. There, AM&TWQ came in at around $2.15 million for a local run-up of $5.3 million through Saturday.
Especially during Friday openings in Europe, SpainThe launch day of was 26% higher than the last film and 204% higher than the original. THE UNITED KINGDOM‘s Friday exceeded 201% Ant-Man and the Wasp and 183% ahead The ant Man.
In Asia Pacific, ChinaFriday’s start was 74% lower Ant-Man and the Wasp and 48% below The ant Man while Japan recorded an increase of 18% compared to Ant-Man and the Wasp and 56% compared to The ant Man. India came in 53% on The ant Man and the wasp and a whopping 650% ahead of The ant Man.
Through Friday, the top 10 markets are China ($6.2 million), the UNITED KINGDOM ($4.5M), Mexico ($3.8M), Korea ($3.2M), France ($2.6M), Australia ($2.4M), Indonesia ($2.2M), Germany ($2.2M), Brazil ($1.9M) and Italy ($1.5M).

PREVIOUS, FRIDAY: Disney/Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania buzzed in 43 overseas markets on Wednesday and Thursday, bringing in around $23.8M until yesterday. With the strong domestic previews of $17.5 million, this elevates the global cume to a race $41.3M.
The first two days at the international box office placed the trio 68% ahead of the original The ant Man and 1% above 2018 Ant-Man and the Wasp on a comparable basis, both benefited from the summer school holidays.
The estimated overseas gross of $23.8 million through Thursday does not include any China Numbers. The film debuted at midnight on Thursday and through Friday it costs around $6.3 million with an opening day at No. 1. The Peyton Reed-directed pic has an 8.8 on Maoyan, tied with previous movies.
Also not included in the two-day offshore total above, Korea Friday added $980,000 in the top spot, for a three-day cumulative sum of $3.16M.
Strictly speaking through Thursday, Paul Rudd’s top 5 star markets are Mexico ($2.4M), Korea ($2.2M), France ($1.8M), Indonesia ($1.5M) and Australia ($1.5M).
Latin America and Europe are doing well. There is a certain softness in Asia-Pacific. In Latin America, Quantum opened No. 1 in all markets on Thursday with a 75% share in the region. Mexico launch day came 10% below Ant-Man and the Wasp while Brazil ($1.3 million) was 1% higher than that film.
In Europe, the Creatures were No. 1 everywhere except Denmark. FranceWednesday’s opening topped 16% Ant-Man and the Wasp and 128% ahead The ant Man. Germany was 47% ahead of Ant-Man and the Wasp and 126% ahead The ant Man. Italy was also above the previous photos.
Quantum landed 13% below Ant-Man and the Wasp and 6% ahead The ant Man in his thursday Australia arc while Korea’s open on Wednesday was 47% below Ant-Man and the Waspand 26% more The ant Man.
In addition to China, there are now Spain, Japan, the United Kingdom and India as well as Poland, South Africa and Vietnam.
